LOS ANGELES - For the 16th straight year, motorsports fans and racers from across the United States, Mexico and Canada will gather in Laughlin, Nev., the desert resort town near the shores of the Colorado River, for the popular SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge. The first major motorsports event of the year in the United States will be held Jan. 15-17, launching the five-race 2010 SCORE Desert Series, the World's Foremost Desert Racing Series.

LOS ANGELES — McMillin and Wilson, two of the biggest names family names in the world of desert racing, have both made big plans for the new decade, starting with commitments to run high-profile, multi-vehicle teams in the 2010 SCORE Desert Series, the world’s foremost desert racing series. Both with second and third generation drivers, McMillin Racing of San Diego and Wilson Motorsports of Long Beach, Calif., each are planning on having five entries in January’s season-opening 16th Annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge. The computerized drawing for starting positions for the pre-registered entries in the unique two-day race will be held Wednesday at the SCORE headquarters in Los Angeles.

SCORE International just posted the 12 Laughlin Desert Challenge Schedule of Events for the season opener of the 2006 SCORE Desert Racing Series. The action begins Thursday, January 12, with driver registration from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. followed by the Laughlin Leap at 6 p.m. at the Laughlin Events Park. Friday begin driver registration as well as contingency and tech inspection at 9 a.m., followed by course orientation from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the $10,000 SCORE Pit Crew Showdown at 4:30 p.m. at the Start/Finish Line in the Laughlin Events Park. Racing takes place all day Saturday and Sunday beginning at 7 a.m. in the dirt.
The list of entries is massive and should prove to be the largest in the in the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge's 12-year history, as the list is expected to grow up until the start of the event.
