Environmental Land Use Issues - California

For off-road enthusiasts, both Johnson Valley (Lucerne Valley) and Stoddard Valley (Barstow) are among the hottest off highway vehicle (OHV) recreation destinations in Southern California. Their proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles County, Orange County , San Bernardino County and San Diego County make them a perfect place to ride and race dirt bikes, ATVs, 4X4 vehicles, Jeeps, trucks and buggies.

Despite the huge financial interest the off-road and powersports industries play in these recreational havens, these OHV areas remain an increasingly-hot target for those looking to take reigns of the land for their own interests as well as those who long to lockup these public land from the public. While eco-nazis and the eco-friendly regime that makes up the bulk of California legislators are common enemies to off-roaders, new threats have been added to the equation that may very well align to eliminate any form of recreational access to these areas. These forces include encroachment by the military and its nearby bases as well as the more ominous threat posed by renewable energy threats.

While the ongoing global war on Islamic terrorists has increased the demand for training facilities for our armed forces, chances are, renewable energy poses a far greater threat, since environmentalists and its extreme arm of eco-terrorists share a common goal with the green speak of renewable energy and the invented threat of global warming. Add to that, most of these left-leaning hippies share in an extreme hatred for the United States Military. On one hand, you may very well see these eco-freaks vehemently oppose any incursion upon this land by the military but gleefully welcome any renewable energy encroachment, however moronic it may be.

Because of this, there is a movement emerging to take a stand against the rising threats of environmentalism, bringing together off-road enthusiasts as well as the financial backing of the industries that equip them.

At the Holiday Inn just off of Interstate 15 at Outlet Center Drive Exit in Barstow, California, a meeting will be held to discuss the looming threats upon OHV areas. A pre-meeting begins at 6 pm with the official meeting beginning at 7 pm sharp.

Official representatives and members of American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) District 37 Offroad, California Off Road Vehicle Association (CORVA), California Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs, Friends of Giant Rock and Friends of Jawbone will be in attendance as well as enthusiasts from through Southern California. The newly-formed group organizing the meeting is Friends of Stoddard Valley (www.fosvohv.com).
