AMA District 37 Off Road Dual Sport rides are designed for street legal dirt bikes that are off-road motorcycles licensed for street and highway use. These dual sport motorcycles are capable of being ridden on dirt roads and trails. These D37 dual sport rides are a lot of fun and allow you to tour through and view scenery that most people do not know exists in California. All dual-sport events are non-competitive and consist of routes that are 50-90% dirt roads and trails. All of these rides are "low-key", self-guided tours, using maps and roll-charts. Some promoters will hold drawings to give away prizes that have been donated by sponsors. All courses are self-navigated tours. You will usually be supplied with a map of the course and a "roll chart". The roll chart is a long strip of paper like an adding machine tape or cash register receipt with all the the specific directions for you to navigate the course. This fits into a roll chart holder (of course!) which is usually available for sale from the promoter or at motorcycle stores. Your motorcycle should have an odometer that is resettable either totally or by tenths (tenths are better). Local Dual Sport rides are promoted by AMA chartered clubs and promoters affiliated with District 37. AMA National membership may be required only for certain "National" rides as noted in their flyer. District 37 strongly encourages individual membership in the AMA since they work very hard on behalf of all their members by keeping on top of legislation which affects all motorcyclists. The more members the AMA has, the more influential they can be. You will also receive a monthly magazine which reports on activities of national interest.
