TOYOTA A-BAT CONCEPT TRUCKToyota returns to compact pickup truck roots with its latest concept vehicle A-BAT. The environmentally advanced A-BAT provides modern versatility, roominess and style in a compact pickup architecture. The A-BAT will be on display at the Toyota exhibit in Detroit at the 2008 North American International Auto Show beginning Monday, Jan. 14. "Driving from beyond the suburbs to the city is a way of life for many people," said Kevin Hunter, president, Calty Design Research, Inc. "We've taken Toyota's truck heritage to a different level by envisioning a vehicle capable of maneuvering the suburbs as well as dirt roads. This compact truck is as comfortable for long commutes as it is for road trips. It can accommodate outdoor toys and home improvement supplies. Plus, customers benefit from the hybrid powertrain's low emissions and fuel economy."

Toyota 5.7 Liter V8 Engine Production Begins in Alabama

State and local officials joined Toyota officials and team members today to mark the production of the first 5.7 liter V8 engine at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Alabama (TMMAL). TMMAL employs 950 team members, has the capacity to produce 130,000 4.0 liter V6 engines, 120,000 4.7 liter V8 engines, 150,000 new 5.7 liter V8 engines annually. The total investment is $490 million. TMMAL, which opened in 2003, supplies V8 engines for the Tundra full-size pickup and Sequoia full-size sport utility vehicle ( SUV ) produced in Indiana. The plant also supplies V6 engines for Tacoma pickup trucks produced in California and Mexico as well as the Tundra. The new 5.7 liter V8 engines will be used for the all new Toyota Tundra Trucks built in San Antonio, Texas and Princeton, Indiana.

All-New 2001 Toyota Sequoia Sets A New Standard In The Full-Size SUV Class

Arriving in early November, Sequoia will be Toyota's first mainstream, full-size sport utility vehicle (SUV). It was developed to fill a key product-and-price position between the 4Runner and the Land Cruiser. Larger and roomier than the Cruiser, Sequoia will complement Toyota's SUV lineup with the size, features, performance and pricing that are currently in such high demand with recreationally-active American families. "Sequoia is much more than Toyota's biggest SUV," said Don Esmond, Toyota Division senior vice-president and general manager. "Like Tundra, Sequoia was developed, designed and built to meet the unique demands of the American market."

Dana Corporation Providing Frame Assembly And Driveshafts For New Toyota Sequoia

Dana Corporation (NYSE: -DCN) announced today that it will soon begin production of frame assemblies and driveshafts for the new 2001 full-size Sequoia sport utility vehicle, manufactured by Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana. The frame will be assembled at Dana's Structural Products facility, located in Owensboro, Ky. The Sequoia will benefit from Dana's and Toyota's commitment to excellence to design the frame with unprecedented NVH characteristics. The front half of the frame is similar in design to the Toyota Tundra pickup and the components for the rear portion are being produced at Dana's Structural Products facility in Hopkinsville, Ky. The Sequoia will also benefit from the advanced line-sequencing technology that was jointly developed by Dana and Toyota for the Tundra.

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) U.S.A., Inc., today unveiled the Sequoia full-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) at a press conference at the North American International Auto Show. The Sequoia, scheduled to go on sale in late 2000 as a 2001 model, will be built alongside the Toyota Tundra pickup at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana, and will share the full-size pickup's platform and V8 powertrain. "It is appropriate that here at one of the largest auto shows in North America, we choose to launch the largest, most versatile sport utility vehicle in our lineup," said Don Esmond, group vice president and general manager, Toyota Division. "Sequoia is Toyota's first truly full-size sport utility, filling a key product-and-price position between the high-volume, mid-size 4Runner and the low-volume premium-brand Land Cruiser."

Sequoia is scheduled to go on sale in the fall of 2000 as a 2001 model. Sequoia will feature the same i-Force V8 engine that powers the Toyota Tundra full-size pickup and will be built alongside Tundra at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana production facility.

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., announced that the name of its all-new U.S.-built full-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) will be Sequoia. Scheduled to go on sale in the fall of 2000 as a 2001 model, Sequoia will be based on the Toyota Tundra full-size pickup truck. It will feature the same i-Force V8 engine that powers the Toyota Land Cruiser and Tundra. Sequoia will be built alongside Tundra at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana production facility. Jim Press, TMS executive vice president, announced the name to journalists attending the Tokyo Motor Show at a press conference on Tuesday. Press said Sequoia represents strength and longevity. It will join Toyota's wide range of SUV's, including the compact car-based RAV4, the mid-sized 4Runner and the full-size Land Cruiser.
